   8.4 Actions:

8.4.1 Develop and implement a comprehensive, detailed plan to fund, modernize and repair U.S. infrastructure.

   8.5 Background

8.5.1 “The American Society of Civil Engineers (ACSE)’s 2013 quadrennial report card gave the U.S. infrastructure an overall grade of an alarming D+. In the World Economic Forum’s most recent ranking, the U.S. infrastructure was ranked 16th in the world – down from 7th in 2007. America’s failure to invest in infrastructure has resulted in a steady decline – and many fear that decline will not only negatively impact the domestic economy, but could drastically reduce America’s ability to compete in the global economy.” - according to Joe Sparks, Communications Specialist/Journalist.

Following table from the Quadrennial Report Card shows the grades for each category of infrastructure:

In their report card ASCE estimates the total investment needs to maintain a state of good repair of infrastructure is $3.6 Trillion between now and 2020.

Funding is available to modernize and repair the nations infrastructure in the Summary of Funding Sources.
